Laura Rogora has climbed the 9a “La Bongada” in Margalef. This adds to the list of many 9a sports routes Laura has sent, and comes just one day after her first 8b+ onsight with the route L-mens in Montsant nearby. The 18 year old Italian has had an amazing 2019 after gaining an Olympics invite at the IFSC Combined Qualifier in Toulouse, as well as getting three Gold medals for Lead, Bouldering, and Combined at the IFSC Youth World Championships.
Laura has been doing amazingly lately and seems to be taking the classic winter break in Spain to relax with outdoor climbing before heading back to training for comps in the next few months. Laura Rogora qualified for the Olympics representing Italy along with team mate Ludovico Fossali. Read more on her instagram or more Laura Rogora articles.
The 9a “La Bongada” is in the Zona Del Panta North in Margalef (though the area is often called Espadelles by locals) and was originally put up by Renaud Moulin – a prolific bolter in the area but first climbed by Ramon Julian Puigblanque. It is a huge route in the obvious big “hole” at the crag, and varies from slightly to severely overhanging. Watch a video of Daniel Fuertes sending the route back in 2016 below.
